"Really
Long Songs"
"All
that is now... and all that is gone"

Show #36, Air date: 29. April, 2005 - The
Wall live, 28 February, 1980 at
Nassau Colisseum. Few
bands had dared to even think of staging such an ambitious
show, let alone tried to plan one. Inevitably The Wall grew into a monster, a
logistical
nightmare which required setting up specialist teams within the
crew to ensure
precision, a procedure which has since become commonplace within
the live industry.
Waters's vision necessitated two custom-built stages, one in
front of the other at slightly
different heights, which were separated by a large black drape.
The task of pacing the
building of the wall between the two stages and isolating the
band from the audience
while the show was in motion was a feat in itself. Add to
this the operation of the Scarfe
inflatables, the flying pig, a crashing model Stuka, Marc
Brickman's imaginative lighting,
film projections, and copious pyrotechnics. Also...
material from tribute band A.P.F.S.

Show #34, Air date: 15. April, 2005 - Pink Floyd live, 3 July, 1977 at
Madison Square
garden. Not only was it the eve of the 4th of July, it was
also the week marijuana
had been decriminalised in New York State. The young
audience was thus
inevitably out of it. Many brought fireworks to the Garden
and were setting them off
in the upper tiers. Needless to say they were making the
audience a bit edgy.
David seemed to use the tention to put an edge on his guitar
licks, but Rager was
obviously not happy.
Roger's lyrics came through
clearer
and louder then any others that evening; "You
stupid mother fucker!", he yelled, "...and anyone else in here
with fireworks can
just fuck off and let us get on with it".

Show #32, Air date: 1. April, 2005 - Stadio delle Alpi, Torino,
Italy 13. September 1994.
Future home of the
2006 Winter Games, Torino is located in the
shadows of the Italian
Alps close to the French and Swiss Borders.
This soundboard recording would render your copy of PULSE
useless
if they played all
of Dark
Side Of The Moon
on this one, but they don't. So, you better keep your copy of
PULSE
around just for good measure.
The audience as
well
as the band were
in tune and David gets to practice his Italian.
During Money,
David slips up on the lyrics and starts laughing. Later, the
girls on back
up vocals start having their onw fun when they
unexpectedly started playing kazoos.

Show #30, Air date: 18. March, 2005 - Super Pop '70 VII, Altes Casino
de Montreux, Montreux,
Switzerland, November 21st and 22nd. The second show was
added at the last minute. Both
shows were recorded and EMI pressed white-label acetates which
included interviews with
David. However it is likely these would have been intended
as promotional tools, not for
commercial release. This is that soundboard recording from
these two shows.
This was an amazing show.
Astronomy Domine was performed with a violent flair. Cymbaline
fell victim to a technical soundboard glitch, perhaps caused by
a cabinet that blew from Roger's
bass which caused Dave to burst out in laughter. For more
information on the casino, click HERE.

"British
Winter Tour 1974"
Show #28, Air date: 4. March, 2005 - Due
to time constraints, this
was an abbreviated
radio
show lasting
1.5 hours instead of the usual 2 hours. I had to make a last
minute
change to the content of the show. The scheduled Electric
Factory performance has
been rescheduled for next week.
Tonight - Empire Theater, Wembley, London, England on 16. November,
1974. The
Second set of this
particular gig
was recorded by BBC Radio 1 for later broadcast,
although the Echoes
encore
was never aired... till now. This is the complete pre-FM
master, which has only recently surfaced. This is perhaps
the BEST vintage Dark
Side
set ever recorded.
Show #27, Air date: 25.
February, 2005 - So,
I'm thinking of what to put here. I'm
"Flakes...
scrambled
eggs, bacon,
sausages,
tomatoes, toast... coffee..."
Show #26, Air date: 18. February, 2005 - Marmalade... I'll Have
marmalade. This show featured material mostly from
1970. KQED in April, Electric Factory in September, and
Sheffield City Hall in December. There was a huge artistic
movement going on with video, light and sound during that
time. For Pink Floyd, a great deal of experimentation
was going on during their gigs. This radio show's
highlight and perhaps the most
interesting was a tune performed
only five
times, live
... Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast.
The band stopped playing during the middle of the
performance
to sit down for a spot
of tea while roadies came up on stage to
turn on a
radio for the band to listen to. The radio
was tuned to an
obnoxious DJ (no.... not me. it was Jimmy
Young)
blabbering away. Art rock it it's finest!
Show #25, Air date: 11. February,
2005 - Los Angeles Sports Arena, 26. April 1975. A
Harvested release.
An
EXCELLENT recording of a complete 1975 gig.
After You Gotta Be Crazy,
Roger says "It was a cruel song...
but
fair... next tune we're going to do for you is another new
number, it's called Shine On You
Crazy Diamond.
It has something to do with Syd Barrett, who some of you might
remember... and some of you probably won't.".

"The
Sun Is In Tune"
Show #24, Air date: 4. February, 2005 - After six months off
the air, it's nice to be back.
I've been told
that shortly after the show was
carelessly not included in the Fall 04
schedule, well over 200 (perhaps
even more) of you emailed WMFO's General
Manager
and Program Director to demand the return
of Brain Damage. Seems like it worked, or at
least the management now knows people really do listen and
respond.
As for me, I cannot
even begin to tell you how much your response and support means
to
me. For a show
that started off as an experiment, has really blossomed into a
full fledged, internationally
recognized Pink Floyd radio show. I only have you to thank
for it and the Floyd, of course.
During my
hiatus, I collected quite a few interesting, excellent quality live
recordings and
continue to do so at a constant rate of
about two per week. Its going to be cool.

Show #23, Air date: 11. September,
2004 -
Oakland, May 9th 1977. By far one of the best
recordings I've heard come out
of the 70's. Whoever recorded this 27 years ago,
definitely knew what they were doing! This is a complete show
with no
repeated material, no skips, no fades and hardly any
annoying crowd noise. I've even go as far as saying it almost
sounds official. The band seems to be
having a lot of fun. Rare for In
The Flesh
Tour.

"A
Silver Sound From A Tounge So Strange"
Show #22, Air date: 4. September, 2004 - I
have always been here. I have
always looked out from behind
the eyes. It feels like more than a lifetime.
Feels like
more than a lifetime. Sometimes I get tired of the
waiting.
Sometimes I
get tired of being in here. Is this the way it has
always been?
Could it
ever have been different? Do you ever get tired of
the waiting?
Do you ever
get tired of being in there? Don't worry... nobody
lives forever...
nobody
lives forever.
I will
always be
here. I will
always look out from behind these eyes.
It's only a
lifetime... its only a life time... its only a lifetime
"Yet
Another Show, Part 4"
"The
Film"
Show #20, Air date: 14. August, 2004 - Back by popular demand... The
1982 film
soundtrack features tracks
not on the original album, as well as remixed and even
completely re-recorded versions of tracks from The
Wall album, complete
with
dialogue and sound
effects.
During the broadcast I mixed in a
rough cut of Hey You from the
DVD as it would have
been done originally, had it been included in the film.
Another few surprise added in,
was an alternate take of Bring
The Boys
Back Home not heard on the album or film.
This time I added in Vera Lynn's The
Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot and made
the sound effects much louder. This a complete recording
from the DVD.

"The
Early Years, Part 2"
Show #18, Air date: 31. July, 2004 - Back by popular demand... the second
installment of early material to be
featured on Brain Damage.
This show included many unreleased tracks

"Yet
Another Show, Part 3"
Show #16, Air date: 17. July, 2004 - This show was just a good mix for a
warm summer night.

"Look
Mommy... there's a pig up in the sky."
Show #15, Air date: 10. July, 2004 -
Oakland, May 9th 1977. This has got to be by far one of the best
recordings I've heard
come out of the 70's. Whoever recorded this 27 years ago,
definitely knew what they were doing! This is a complete show
with no repeated material, no skips, no fades and hardly any
annoying crowd noise. I've even go as far as saying it almost

Encore: Money, Us
And
Them, Careful With That Axe Eugene (last
live performance of this
song)
"Singles"
Show #14, Air date: 26. June, 2004 - It's all in the name really. This
show featured "every"
officially released single during Pink Floyd's career.
Record companies do not make a lot
of money from singles, but they serve as an important
marketing tool. Singles
are essentially four minute adverts for albums. Sales from
these
singles, guarantee chart placement and, in turn, radio
play. For that reason, record
companies persist with them and so the wheel turns.
Pink Floyd's record lable, EMI also
pressed radio-only releases, where a track from an album
is promoted to radio, but not actually available to buy.

"Instrumental"
Show #12, Air date: 12. June, 2004 - Sometimes words just get in the way.
For this show, Pink Floyd's music speaks
for itself. Their instrumental work over the years, is
some of the best convayers of emotion, time and space.

"The only thing that makes it look light... is the sun."
"Pink
Floyd, The Wall - An Alan Parker film"
Show #10, Air date: 29. May, 2004 - The 1982 film soundtrack features tracks
not on the original album, as well as remixed
and even completely
re-recorded versions of tracks from The
Wall album, complete
with dialogue and sound
effects.
During the broadcast I mixed in a
rough cut of Hey You from the
DVD as it would have been done originally, had it
been included in the film. Another surprise added in, was
an alternate take of Bring The Boys
Back Home. This special
version is different from the film and album versions. It
was re-recorded with the Pontardulais Male
Voice Choir as well
as additional brass and orchestral instrumentation and released as a B-side to the 12" promotional single to, When The
Tigers Broke Free

"Kicking
around on a piece of ground in your home town"
Show #8, Air date: 15. May, 2004 - Pink Floyd, Foxboro, Ma., 19. May
1994. This concert
holds a very special place in my heart for two reasons.
First,
I LOVE PINK FLOYD. Second,
I love Foxboro... It's my home town.
It was a cold, damp, drizzily "English"
Thursday evening, typical Spring weather for May
and perfect weather for a Pink Floyd show. It was the
second night during their three night
stay in the Boston area. It was Section B2, 19th Row (15
feet in front of the soundboard),
Seat 19 (center stage). WOW! It was truly an
incredible sensory overload.
The day after the concert, the sun
was shining bright with few clouds in the sky, yet it was
quite windy. Nonetheless, Pink Floyd's airship The Division Belle made a rare appearance.

"The Man And The Journey"
Show #6, Air date: 1. May, 2004 - The
Man And The Journey was one of Pink
Floyd's early concept shows and was performed for the first on
14. May 1969 in
Royal Festival Hall, London. The event was titled The Masses Gadgets of
Auximenes - More Furious
Madness From Pink Floyd. The show divided into
two parts, contained improvisations around different Floyd
songs, many closely
related to the soundtrack from the film, More. This
concert was recorded by
Dutch radio VPRO in Amsterdam, 17. September, 1969

"Moooooore
Rarities"
Show #2, Air date: 3. April, 2004 -
The original "Rarities" show was aired almost a year ago to the day on
4. April and again on 21. August 2003 by popular demand.
Since then, many people have asked to have it
aired another time. The first two "Rarities" shows had
slight differences. Rarities 3.0 was no exception.

"Oink,
Oink, Woof, Woof, Baaaa"
Show #1, Air date: 20. March, 2004 -
The famous Animals concert at Montreal's Olympic Stadium, 6. July
1977. This was the
concert that
inspired The Wall after Roger became quite upset with the audience and
lost his cool. Its an audience recording
from the
floor section. Sound quality is about a 4 on a scale of 1 to 5, 5
being the best and runs 2hrs 35mins in its entirety,
unedited.

Here is a cool photo.
